  • March Madness and now for April flowers

I can't believe that March is almost gone.  I am proceeding with the Jordan books. I'm now reading #7,  A Crown of Swords.  It gets so involved that I am making some lists of Characters to keep them all straight.

I went to Lubbock to see my mom in the nursing home this weekend.  I think she was doing better than I expected, but worse than I hoped.  Still, it was good to see her, and have a chance to just spend time and give her a hug.

I stayed with Claudine, and had a nice visit with her family.  Also saw Andrew's family for lunch on Sunday.  The weekends are always so short.  Maybe Claudine and I can find time to paint together come summer.  We did go shopping together for a little while, and I found 2 cute sundresses for my grandaughter, Liz, to go with her Easter Basket.  I know it's not candy, but the dresses are really sweet!

Mike did the kindest thing for me.  He knew when to expect me and was at home just to help me unload the car (and mostly so I wouldn't be worried coming home to a big empty house after dark).  He just wanted to make things easier for me.  Flowers are nice, but give me  a man who will be there for you without even having to ask.  It made it so much easier for me. ( Yes, he had to go right back to stay the night at his dad's house , as we still don't leave Doug alone at night since the fall and broken arm.)

Time to go, Love , Mom H.

  • We made it to February!

I have read the updates and enjoy keeping up with everyone.  Mike's Dad, Doug , is doing better and has had his cast removed and the staples taken out.  His sister Pauline is going back home this week, and that means we will have to take up the slack in Doug's care.  I will have to spend nights alone again until Doug is more self=sufficient.  I really hate that, but feel better about it now that Andrew has installed a home security system for us.

I don't know how to attach an e-mail to my xanga, so I sent it to Amy and Heather (Charles Schultz's Philosophy) , and they can share it with Amy H.  It is worth the time, and there is a sermon there, too.  (Hint to Amy) .

Amy H., I don't know all your history, but am very proud of you for your progress.  I don't like being alone at night, or going to the store alone at night either.  On the other hand, I really believe a good healthy sense of caution can help all of us from becoming statistics.  Lightening does strike at random, but it helps not to stand where it is most likely to be a problem.  That is a piece of my personal philosophy, even if daughter Amy thinks I am a little too timid sometimes.  I just know we have to hang in there and keep trying or we hand the bad guys a moral victory.

That sounds simplistic, but  it's the best I can offer.

  • Happy Birthday, Marmar!

I know I have been lazy about writing.  -only I'm not sure that is the right term. It has been so busy trying to finish up the tax year stuff for our business.  The inventory is finished, but I still have to get it all typed up so I can do the spread sheet and other things needed for the IRS tax stuff.  I just had a birthday, and I had a great year in most ways.

I now have my official grandmother nickname.  I'm Marmar.  On my birthday, my three year old grandaughter, Elizabeth called and told me "Happy Birthday, Marmar.  I love you."   I also got to hear greetings from Amy, and Andrew and Michelle, and my sister, Deni.  I think I also got a little misty eyed on all of those calls.

We had a bad scare yesterday morning, beginning with a phone call from Mike's dad.  My 89 year old father-in-law  had fallen and broken his arm.  It was long day, and turned out better than I feared.  The arm is really broken, but is in a splint/cast for now.  After 1 week, they will re-evaluate and decide if he is healing or if he needs surgery.  Prayers would be appreciated.

The way things are going, it doesn't look like I will be substituting  at school this month.  I am working for our business every day this week, and will have to be available to fill in there or take Dad to his doctor appointments.  I visited with him this evening, and he is doing fairly well.

Amy H.- I'm glad you got your gun! I only have a pistol.  Bet your new present is a lot of fun. Heather- I hope you are feeling better now.   Amy, Mommy loves you- hurry up and get well.  By the way, I am now on book three of the Jordan series.

    Gotta go now--love y'all

  • Amy and I went shopping today.  It's really crazy out there this close to Christmas.  So maybe I'm a little crazy too.  I love Christmas, and already have my gifts wrapped.  I need to get three last things, for Andy, Mike and Papaw, and then do the stockings.  After thqt, it is just cooking and enjoying my family.  It is so great having everyone here at home together.  =)  Happy
